- Facility access to the Louis B. Mayer Library and the Computer Lab

Disney Opens Submissions for ‘Launchpad’ Season 3, Seeking Underrepresented Filmmakers for Shorts Incubator Program
Disney’s “Launchpad,” the anthology series of American independent short films will return for its third season. Submissions for the new season are now open through June 2.
“Launchpad” first started in 2021, and is a 12-month program that cultivates emerging filmmakers. Members in the program work closely with Disney creative executives to make live-action shorts to possibly premiere on Disney+. Filmmakers will also be mentored and have the opportunity to engage in a training program that teaches collaboration.
“Season three brings a new theme of forward, where we’re looking to spring forward into hope and optimism through our storytelling,” said Mahin Ibrahim, director of Creative Talent Pathways, Representation & Inclusion Strategies.

Assistant Professor of Multimedia & Film Production—Search #68004 College of Arts and Humanities, Department of Communication Arts The Department of Communication Arts in the College of Arts and Humanities invites applications and nominations for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor of Multimedia and Film Production. Founded in 1906, Georgia Southern University is a Carnegie Doctoral/R2 institution with a focus on public-impact research, serving over 25,500 students on three beautiful campuses in Statesboro, Savannah, and Hinesville, and via a growing online program. Through our degree offerings at the associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels, Georgia Southern offers a distinctive combination of community collaboration, world-class scholarship, innovative teaching, and hands-on learning opportunities. Within this setting, the Communication Arts faculty promote the critical analysis, evaluation, performance, and practice of human communication in its various contexts. The Multimedia and Film Production program prepares students for the field of media production in a holistic manner. MMFP majors are creative, entrepreneurial, skilled, and broadly educated so that they can capitalize on opportunities across converging modes of production in informational and entertainment media, including the creation of news and sports broadcasts, podcasts, commercials and corporate media, documentaries, and exciting projects in Georgia’s multi-billion-dollar film and television industry. Position Description Reporting to the Chair of Communication Arts, the Assistant Professor of Multimedia and Film Production is a teacher-scholar possessing the ability to contribute to courses in audio storytelling and sound design, digital postproduction for cinema/television/video, and/or studio-based multi-camera television/multimedia production. The position is an academic (10 month), tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Required Qualifications
- Earned terminal degree (Master of Fine Arts or PhD) in Film/Media Production, or a closely related field, by July 15, 2024.
- Portfolio of work demonstrating proficiency in TWO (2) of the following: Audio storytelling (studio and location recording, sound design for picture, sound editing, and final mixing)
- Post-production editing for cinema and/or television, including compositing, visual effects, motion graphics and color correction/grading for final delivery
- Studio-based multi-camera television/multimedia production
- Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
- Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda and the production of research/creative activities as appropriate to the discipline.
- Professional experience AND portfolio of work demonstrating proficiency in TWO (2) of the following:
- Audio storytelling (studio and location recording, sound design for picture, sound editing, and final mixing)
- Post-production editing for cinema and/or television, including compositing, visual effects, motion graphics and color correction/grading for final delivery
- Studio-based multi-camera television/multimedia production
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate level or higher, including course design, curriculum development, and assessment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Conditions of Employment: Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution.
- All work (with limited exceptions such as research and study abroad and outside activities such as grading and email correspondence) for Georgia Southern University must be completed while the employee is physically present in the state of Georgia, unless specifically authorized by the university for a specific purpose and limited period of time within current policy.
- Faculty are expected to contribute to the vibrant university community by engaging students, participating in events, and performing other responsibilities on-campus
- Faculty may be required to teach, conduct research, or perform service duties on any of the three campuses. Georgia Southern provides accessible transportation options between campuses.
Screening of applications begins November 13, 2023 and continues until the position is filled. The preferred position starting date is August 1, 2024. A complete application consists of a letter addressing the qualifications cited above; a curriculum vitae; the names, addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses of at least three professional references; and a portfolio of relevant production work samples. Other documentation may be requested. Only complete applications submitted electronically will be considered. Finalists will be required to submit to a background investigation.
