Director of Photography

Seeking a DP for a three-day shoot of a short film, SIZZLE, between Sat. 3/2 – Wed. 3/6 on the Upper West Side in New York City. (Exact dates TBD)

SIZZLE  is a dark romantic comedy about a widow in her fifties, who re-enters the dating scene. Written and produced by Adina Taubman, and directed by Padraic Lillis

The full budget for SIZZLE is $15,000, and the pay for the DP position is $1050, which is locked in at favored nations in line with other department heads and key creative team members. This is a non-union project. Local Hire Only.

Looking for someone with experience in narrative film, experience shooting comedy is a plus!

Our goal is to build a kind, collaborative team and we are looking for someone who brings a sense of humor and flexibility to the shoot!

Co-Producer

Seeking a Co-Producer for SIZZLE, a dark romantic comedy about a widow in her fifties, who re-enters the dating scene. Written and produced by Adina Taubman, and directed by Padraic Lillis

Looking for someone to start by 1/30, working remotely on pre-production. Ideally looking for a producer with experience in short films (narrative specifically). The dream candidate for this role would be someone who can stay calm when things feel stressful, who is a problem solver, and a creative thinker. The budget has been raised–we do not need help with fundraising, but need help with scheduling, managing the budget, building out the crew, organizing locations, etc. 

Our goal is to build a kind, collaborative team and we are looking for someone who brings a sense of humor and flexibility to the pre-production process as well as ultimately to the set.

Assistant Professor of Multimedia & Film Production—Search #68004 College of Arts and Humanities, Department of Communication Arts

The Department of Communication Arts in the College of Arts and Humanities invites applications and nominations for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor of Multimedia and Film Production. Founded in 1906, Georgia Southern University is a Carnegie Doctoral/R2 institution with a focus on public-impact research, serving over 25,500 students on three beautiful campuses in Statesboro, Savannah, and Hinesville, and via a growing online program. Through our degree offerings at the associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels, Georgia Southern offers a distinctive combination of community collaboration, world-class scholarship, innovative teaching, and hands-on learning opportunities. Within this setting, the Communication Arts faculty promote the critical analysis, evaluation, performance, and practice of human communication in its various contexts. The Multimedia and Film Production program prepares students for the field of media production in a holistic manner. MMFP majors are creative, entrepreneurial, skilled, and broadly educated so that they can capitalize on opportunities across converging modes of production in informational and entertainment media, including the creation of news and sports broadcasts, podcasts, commercials and corporate media, documentaries, and exciting projects in Georgia’s multi-billion-dollar film and television industry.

Position Description Reporting to the Chair of Communication Arts, the Assistant Professor of Multimedia and Film Production is a teacher-scholar possessing the ability to contribute to courses in audio storytelling and sound design, digital postproduction for cinema/television/video, and/or studio-based multi-camera television/multimedia production. The position is an academic (10 month), tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned terminal degree (Master of Fine Arts or PhD) in Film/Media Production, or a closely related field, by July 15, 2024.
  • Portfolio of work demonstrating proficiency in TWO (2) of the following: Audio storytelling (studio and location recording, sound design for picture, sound editing, and final mixing)
  • Post-production editing for cinema and/or television, including compositing, visual effects, motion graphics and color correction/grading for final delivery
  • Studio-based multi-camera television/multimedia production
  • Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
  • Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda and the production of research/creative activities as appropriate to the discipline.
  • Professional experience AND portfolio of work demonstrating proficiency in TWO (2) of the following:
    • Audio storytelling (studio and location recording, sound design for picture, sound editing, and final mixing)
    • Post-production editing for cinema and/or television, including compositing, visual effects, motion graphics and color correction/grading for final delivery
    • Studio-based multi-camera television/multimedia production
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level or higher, including course design, curriculum development, and assessment.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Conditions of Employment: Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution.
  • All work (with limited exceptions such as research and study abroad and outside activities such as grading and email correspondence) for Georgia Southern University must be completed while the employee is physically present in the state of Georgia, unless specifically authorized by the university for a specific purpose and limited period of time within current policy.
  • Faculty are expected to contribute to the vibrant university community by engaging students, participating in events, and performing other responsibilities on-campus
  • Faculty may be required to teach, conduct research, or perform service duties on any of the three campuses. Georgia Southern provides accessible transportation options between campuses.

Screening of applications begins November 13, 2023 and continues until the position is filled. The preferred position starting date is August 1, 2024. I’m an actor-writer producing my first ultra low budget (300k) feature dramedy called Spinsters. It’s about two middle-aged estranged besties who, finding themselves caught between life’s disappointments and aging parents, are forced to confront roads not taken and each other in order to drop “what could have been” and embrace “why not?” I am looking for a female director who’d be excited to bring this kind of story to life. WRITEGIRL IS SEEKING VOLUNTEERS! Support the voices of teens in Los Angeles! Volunteer as a writing mentor or help behind the scenes in supporting the work that WriteGirl and Bold Ink Writers are doing to inspire teens to develop their creativity and writing skills! WriteGirl (www.writegirl.org) is a creative writing and mentoring organization that empowers underserved teen girls in Los Angeles through mentoring relationships with women writers, hosting large-scale writing workshops at such places as the Huntington Gardens, The Autry and LACMA. Since 2001, WriteGirl has maintained a 100% success rate in guiding girls to not only graduate from high school, but also enroll in college. WriteGirl is seeking women writers in all genres including novelists, poets, journalists, songwriters, copywriters, legal writers and more to help mentor teen girls, lead workshops and inspire girls to express their creative ideas. Weekly and monthly mentoring opportunities available. WriteGirl is also seeking women professionals to volunteer behind-the-scenes with events, public relations, fundraising and partnerships.
