The event will take place on April 26 at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, featuring a private reception and Mezzanine Two premier seating for the tribute show. Black Fellow and Alumni Networking Mixer
In honor of Black History Month, the Lawrence Herbert Alumni Center is hosting a Black Fellow and Alumni Networking Mixer on Feb. 24 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Join us on the AFI Campus for an evening of networking and meaningful connections, featuring a conversation with special guest, AFI Alum Deniese Davis (AFI Class of 2012), producer of ONE OF THEM DAYS, INSECURE and A BLACK LADY SKETCH SHOW. Expand your professional network and come build new friendships. Alumni from all disciplines and years will be in attendance. Submit Your Short Film to AFI FEST
AFI FEST presented by Canva returns to the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, October 22–26, 2025, and we can’t wait for you to join us! Submissions for live action, animated and documentary short films are now open, and the early deadline is fast approaching on March 1. The festival is recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as a qualifying festival for the annual Academy Awards® and BAFTA Awards. All AFI Conservatory graduates can request a submission fee waiver by contacting the AFI Alumni Affairs team at Alumni@AFI.com. For any questions on the submission process, please email fest.programming@AFI.com.

You’re invited! Join us at the Lawrence Herbert Alumni Center on Monday, March 4, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the AFI Campus for the official launch of “Film/TV Director’s Field Manual: Seventy Maxims to Change Your Filmmaking,” the new book by AFI Alum and Faculty Rob Spera (AFI Class of 1986). Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to hear Rob share insights from his latest creative work!
