Bruce Alan Greene Cinematic Art Gallery Opening | October 26, 2019

AFI alumni are invited to attend the opening of a photography show on October 26 at the Perfect Exposure Gallery.  Hosted and curated by Director of Photography, Bruce Alan Greene (Cinematography, Class of 1980), the gallery will feature photographs of the former Soviet Union from a Russian film excursion taken by the cinematographer.  All are welcome to attend the show opening and reception, and it’s free!

 

Opening reception with the Artist Saturday October 26, 2019 from
6:00 to 9:00 pm.

 

Exhibition dates: Saturday 26, October 2019 to Saturday 30, November 2019

AFI ALUMNI @ AFI FEST PARTY, Plus Ticket Info

AFI FEST Presented by Audi, is just around the corner. American Film Institute’s annual celebration of global cinema will take place November 14-21, 2019. As is our tradition, we’ll host the Annual AFI Alumni Party @ FEST on Sunday, November 17.  Please mark your calendar!  Additional details and a formal invitation to follow.

 

We also would like to alert you to a change in our ticketing process. In an effort to make sure that festival attendees have the best opportunity to see the films that interest you, we have transitioned the festival to a paid ticketing system. The ticket purchase process allows us to offer a more reliable FEST-going experience for all and ensures that we are screening in the best possible way for all the talented filmmakers that participate with their remarkable films.  As valued members of our family, this change does not apply to you.  What it does  mean, however, is  that we will be replacing your pa ... AFI Life Achievement Award | Julie Andrews - April 25, 2020

Join us for the 48th annual AFI Life Achievement Award Gala Tribute in celebration of Julie Andrews, a legendary actress of both stage and screen who has enchanted and delighted audiences around the world with her uplifting and inspiring body of work. Andrews continues to captivate viewers in front of the camera, with her remarkable wit, characteristic grace and an incandescent and unmistakable voice all of her own. The award will be presented to Andrews at a Gala Tribute on April 25, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.

The same can be said for AFI Faculty, Staff, Family and Friends – so take a break and indulge the spooky season with an afternoon getaway to Stanley Kubrick’s haunted Overlook Hotel – with our special screening of THE SHINING (1980).

In honor of the AFIC 50th Anniversary, there will also be a presentation of special archival ghosts resurrected exclusively from the AFI Archive, we have another seasonally appropriate treat in store – a rarely screened thesis film from the early days of the Center for Advanced Film Studies. From director/producer/writer Ken Dixon (Class of 1970), SHADOW HOUSE is a horror story about a brassy gold-digger and her henpecked husband searching for hidden treasure in a spooky mansion belonging to the husband’s late occult-minded uncle – starri ...
